We need fiber optic net here in Charlottesville.  Google is providing experimental fiber optic networks around the country - services will include better tools for doctors, researchers, and regular web denizens.  Here are the notes from Google's blog - take a minute to read them and please sign the petition.  This is a tremendous opportunity - like having a railroad.  For students, for teachers, doctors, and garage bands - everyone may benefit.
